IET USM on Campus has carried out the Faraday Challenge on the 27th of October 2018. Our theme for this year was – Coding the Future. This event received an overwhelming response where 53 students from Penang State secondary schools (Chung Ling Butterworth High School, Jit Sin High School and Heng Ee High School) had took part in this challenge.The students,5 to 6 in a group, were given the opportunity to enhance their coding skills and cultivate their creativity to solve problems that people in the society will face in their daily life. They were required to come up with a prototype with materials provided by us and at the end of the day, they will have to do a short pitching for around 8 minutes to win the heart of the judges. It was definitely an eye-opening experience to see the future leaders of the country to come together and work as a team to realise the theme for this challenge. We had a golden opportunity to have a collaboration with IET Uniten on Campus where we had work together and make this event a huge success. We were very pleased to have 4 volunteers from there swinging by our campus to give their assistance and it was a great experience working with them.

After the event, we had conducted a post mortem with the committee members involved in the Faraday Challenge to know what do we lack in and what can we do to improve ourselves so that our next event will be better and extra ordinary.
